There has been no public indication that he or anyone else in his orbit intentionally mishandled classified documents. And Republican front-runner Donald Trump, indicted by a different Justice Department special counsel over his own mishandling of classified documents, has repeatedly claimed Biden has received special treatment. From the start, the investigation unfolded alongside a far more perilous probe of Trump's handling of classified documents. Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House counsel’s office, said in a statement that the interview with Biden was voluntary. "“As we have said from the beginning, the President and the White House are cooperating with this investigation, he said.

It's been nearly 30 years but Rena Sofer still remembers her line from a classic scene on ABC's “General Hospital” in 1994 when her character jumped out of a cake to surprise her husband and his other wife. Sofer and Kurth were married for a short time after meeting on “General Hospital." All it took to slip into the character was to pick out Lois' signature nails: “I put the nails on, I was done. Executive producer Frank Valentini brought in a nail artist to work with Sofer to create nail designs to match Lois' outfits. And then you put on the outfit with the matching nails and it was like, ‘Oh my God, here she is,’" Sofer said.

The American superstar won the individual all-around title at the world championships for the sixth time on Friday to become the most decorated gymnast in history. Biles' only blip came right at the end, as she was about to wrap up her floor routine. Biles, Jones and Andrade competed in the same rotation, kicking off their contest at vault. Andrade bounced out of bounds seconds before she wrapped up her floor routine, a fluffed last step that marred an otherwise brilliant display. Biles’ competition continues this weekend with the women’s vault and uneven bars finals on Saturday and the balance beam and floor exercise finals on Sunday.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham weren't enough to save “ Expend4bles ” from a debut box office flop. The Lionsgate and Millennium's film, also known as “Expendables 4,” pulled in a mediocre $8.3 million for the big-budget project. It starred several popular names, including Stallone, Statham, Curtis “50 Cent" Jackson, Megan Fox and Dolph Lundgren. It's been nearly a decade since the franchise released a film, which opened with $15.8 million and eventually grossed $214 million globally. But times have certainly changed, as the film barely placed second behind “The Nun 2," a horror movie that earned $8.4 million in its first week.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Union leaders and Hollywood studios reached a tentative agreement Sunday to end a historic screenwriters strike after nearly five months, though no deal is yet in the works for striking actors. The Writers Guild of America announced the deal in a joint statement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the group that represents studios, streaming services and production companies in negotiations. “WGA has reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP,” the guild said in an email to members. The tentative deal to end the last writers strike, in 2008, was approved by more than 90% of members. In that walkout, the writers strike started first and ended second.

Here's a look at what's happening, and what may happen, with the awards that have been thrown off course. Because they are still tied to the traditional fall-through-spring broadcast television season, the Emmys have been among the few awards shows held in September. The January date will put the Emmys within the rest of Hollywood's awards season, when red carpets rule and performers are on the promotional prowl. It would also throw the Oscars, and the entire awards season, into doubt. ___For more on the actors and writers strikes, visit: https://apnews.com/hub/hollywood-strikes/

Some creative programming — including shows imported from other countries, competition series and the broadcast arrival of the Paramount Network hit “Yellowstone” — will round-out gaps in the TV schedule. The limited series also stars Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie and debuts Nov. 2. “The Continental” debuts Sept. 22. SIGNS OF STRIKESThere are also programs coming to TV this fall that are obvious time-fillers to help round out primetime schedules. Fox has leaned in heavily to competition shows.

The Michael Graves-directed sequel starring Taissa Farmiga and Storm Reid fell far short of the debut for the first film ($53.8 million), but it's still a solid launch. “The Nun” movies are part of the so-called Conjuring universe, which now has nine films, and $2.1 billion in box office, to its name. “The Nun II” bumped Denzel Washington’s “ Equalizer 3 ” to second place in its second weekend. The Columbia Pictures release added $12.1 million, bringing its domestic grosses to $61.9 million and its worldwide earnings to $107.7 million. Vardalos wrote, directed and stars in “Greek Wedding 3,” which brings back John Corbett and takes the gang to Greece.

Why It Matters: Wind developers say they are facing steep costs. Hit with rising costs on all aspects of offshore wind farms, from wind turbines to steel and copper, developers are signaling that they need higher revenues to make the projects financially viable. The costs of electric power from offshore wind, which have declined sharply over the last two decades, also seem likely to rise. The British auction did attract bidders for onshore wind and solar schemes. Recently, Orsted, the largest offshore wind developer, announced a potential $2 billion write-down on planned projects in the United States and warned that it could wind up canceling them.

CNN —Travelers looking to rent an apartment for a few days in New York City will find slimmer pickings now that city officials have started enforcing new rules cracking down on short-term rentals. Airbnb has called the rules a “de facto ban” on short-term rentals (STRs) that will hurt hosts and the tourism economy. The requirements for approval are strict and follow laws that pre-date the new registration rules. Hanson said that long-term average hotel occupancy in New York City is between 80% and 85%, well above the national average between 62% and 67%. Thousands of listings across various booking sites will be affected as the new registration rules are enforced.

My father said it was indeed a general store, supplying everything from hog feed to eggs to coal for heating. On the map, I believe General’s Store is the building at the bottom and labeled S for store. Black people appeared chiefly in sketches aimed at amusing readers – or when they were accused of crimes against whites. The letter writer said a young white man in a general store had ordered the woman to put down a can of oil she was examining. I could find nothing that accounted for the death of General Bryson, let alone any item that mentioned the Bryson family.

CNN —Beans, beans, the magical … longevity food? The recipe is in his book “ The Blue Zones American Kitchen: 100 Recipes to Live to 100 ." “If you want to avoid gas, the way to start with beans is with a couple tablespoons a day,” Buettner said. For quicker soup, Buettner suggests using a pressure cooker for 25 minutes — except for lentils, which only take about 5 minutes. “If you want to store it more than 2 days, it’s better to freeze it.”This recipe is adapted from “The Blue Zones American Kitchen: 100 Recipes to Live to 100” by Dan Buettner.

As many as 20,000 people are expected to gather Friday for a celebration of the life of Migos rapper Takeoff, who was fatally shot outside a Houston bowling alley earlier this month. Tickets for the memorial service at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, quickly sold out shortly after going on sale Tuesday. Venue officials said the event had reached capacity, meaning as many as 20,000 people could be in attendance. The service is expected to be a star-studded event, with Canadian rapper Drake among those expected to attend. The public memorial is expected to follow a strict no photo or video policy, with media barred from entry to cover the event, according to the event page.
Per his defense, when conspiracy theorist Alex Jones called the Sandy Hook parents crisis actors, “he was looking at the world through dirty glasses.” Maybe so. But he has built a career selling “dirty glasses” to people like my mother, a self-described “truther” who spread misinformation before and after the Sandy Hook shooting. In this respect, my mother isn’t unique: Millions of Americans continue to spread Jones’ misinformation even as he is publicly debunked. Jones’ influence over my mother in the last months of 1999 is hard to overstate. During the trial in Texas, Jones’ attorney warned that “if you look at the world through dirty glasses, everything you see is dirty.“ Thirty years ago, Alex Jones sold my mother a pair of glasses, a lens into the world.
